Jolie L. Chang, MD, FACS is a Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco where she is Chief of the Division of Sleep Surgery and General Otolaryngology.
Dr. Chang specializes in sleep apnea surgery and minimally invasive approaches for salivary gland surgery including sialendoscopy. She has research interests in sialendoscopy outcomes with and without treatment and use of the SPIT (obstructive salivary problem impact test) to follow patients longitudinally. She also studies sleep apnea treatment decision making and use and integration of consumer sleep technology in OSA care pathways.
Dr. Chang is an associate editor for the sleep section of the Laryngoscope journal. She is dedicated to medical education and mentors students and trainees in research as the Director of Resident Research for the Department of Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery.
Dr. Chang performs research in health care decision making and surgical outcomes for sleep apnea therapies. She was co-editor and primary author on the International Consensus Statement for Obstructive Sleep Apnea. She has also published research on surgical techniques and outcomes for minimally invasive sialendoscopy to treat sialolithiasis (salivary stones) and duct stenosis.
