Dr. John Chi is a facial plastic surgeon with a clinical practice focused only on the aesthetics and function of the face, head, and neck. He completed his fellowship in Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Chi says, “As physicians we are expected to have all the answers, but it is often the patients who have the most to teach. Listening to the patients and hearing their questions and concerns is an invaluable part of choosing the surgery or treatment that will achieve the best possible outcome. You can’t possibly begin to treat the problems of the patient, until you hear the concerns of the person.”
Dr. Chi credits his parents for impressing upon him the importance of humanitarian values and education. Upon completion of his bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering at Columbia University, Dr. Chi pursued his love of teaching and became a science teacher in an underserved community in the South Bronx in New York City. Dr. Chi’s humanitarian focus has also taken him to medically underserved India, China, Ecuador and Guatemala to care for cleft lip and palate patients and teach local physicians techniques in cleft lip and palate repair.
