PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: There is evidence suggesting that pediatric autoimmune issues are becoming more frequently diagnosed. Thus, the comprehensive otolaryngologist will likely encounter these conditions in his or her practice. Early diagnosis is crucial to avoid a long diagnostic odyssey and to provide treatment that will help ameliorate and prevent disease progression. We have established a multidisciplinary joint rheumatology and otolaryngology clinic since 2019 to evaluate and treat children with a wide range of autoimmune conditions. We will report our experience dealing some of the autoimmune conditions a comprehensive otolaryngologist will likely see; They include with granulomatosis with polyangiitis, Sjogren’s syndrome and autoimmune hearing loss. We will describe the important role of an otolaryngologist in the management of these children.

Describe the most common pediatric autoimmune conditions a comprehensive otolaryngologist will encounter.
Identify the signs or symptoms that would heighten the suspicion for an autoimmune condition.
Learn the role of the otolaryngologist in each of these conditions.
