Dr. Santa Maria is a fellowship trained laryngologist that specializes in the treatment of voice, airway and swallowing disorders. Her clinical interests include voice disorders in the general public and professional voice user, and minimally invasive airway surgery. She provides an innovative approach to caring for the voice and airway, with surgical and in-office procedures. She loves the power of the human voice, and provides vocal services to the Pittsburgh Opera, having previously been part of a team that developed the vocal injury prevention program with the LA Opera. She is passionate about gender affirming care, and will grow the gender affirming voice care program at UPMC. She is also the Director of the UPMC Comprehensive Airway Center expanding the options for management of complex airway disorders and is developing a novel translational research program to UPMC’s Division of Laryngology.
