Dr. Justin Soffer is a resident physician in Otolaryngology at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis. Born in San Francisco and raised in Orlando, Florida, he is a child of immigrants from Austria and Iraq, a background that has shaped his commitment to culturally responsive, patient-centered care.
Dr. Soffer completed his Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience at UCLA and earned his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston. He is currently completing residency training in Otolaryngology, with plans to pursue fellowship training in Head and Neck Surgery.
His academic interests include Jaw-in-a-Day (JIAD) surgery, surgical innovation, and outcomes research in head and neck reconstruction. At UTHSC, he is spearheading JIAD-focused research projects under the mentorship of Dr. Anas Eid, including a systematic review examining clinical outcomes, patient satisfaction, and surgical techniques in Jaw-in-a-Day reconstruction, as well as a national survey study exploring institutional practice patterns.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Soffer enjoys learning foreign languages, traveling abroad, and maintaining an active lifestyle through golf, volleyball, hiking, and physical fitness. He values collaboration, mentorship, and continuous learning, with the goal of advancing equitable, evidence-based, and innovative surgical care for patients with complex conditions.
In today’s presentation, Dr. Soffer will share findings from his systematic review on Jaw-in-a-Day surgery, highlighting key trends, innovations, and opportunities to improve reconstructive outcomes for patients across diverse care settings.
