Whitney Liddy, MD is an Assistant Professor and the Residency Program Director in the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL. She graduated summa cum laude and phi beta kappa from Dartmouth College. She then completed her medical degree at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine, graduating Alpha Omega Alpha and earning the Neil Stone Award for the graduating student who exemplifies a commitment to professionalism and compassion in medicine. She went on to complete her residency in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at Northwestern University, earning both research and excellence in teaching awards. She then completed a fellowship in thyroid and parathyroid surgery under Dr. Gregory Randolph at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary / Harvard Medical School and has been in practice for 9 years. She teaches the head and neck module for Northwestern’s medical students and is heavily involved in resident education. Her main clinical and research interests focus on the surgical management of thyroid and parathyroid disease, thyroid cancer, and recurrent and superior laryngeal nerve monitoring. She is a member of the International Neural Monitoring Study Group and has helped craft guidelines on intraoperative nerve monitoring as part of the AAO-HNS Cranial Nerve Monitoring Task Force, as well as on immediate and partial neural dysfunction after thyroid and parathyroid surgery through the AHNS Endocrine Surgery Section. She is certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery.
