Dr. Xiaole Song, MD, is an Associate Chief Physician at the Eye, Ear, Nose, and Throat Hospital of Fudan University,and Director of Mucosal Melanoma Diagnosis and Treatment center. She is now a visiting scholar at the University of Pennsylvania. Her clinical and research work focuses on precision treatment of skull base tumors and translational research,especially on mucosal melanoma, with a long-term goal of building an integrated clinical–basic research ecosystem for rare head and neck malignancies.
In clinical and translational research, Dr. Song has led the development of olfactory neuroblastoma cohort in China and established the first prognostic scoring system for the disease(EClinicalMedicine, 2020), Her group proposed a novel NBM molecular classification and corresponding diagnostic and therapeutic strategies in ONB(Nature Cancer,2024). She reported key prognostic factors in mucosal melanoma.
Her research interest is focused on sinonasal mucosal melanoma, including cell-based immunotherapy, tumor immune microenvironment, and novel targets for mucosal melanoma treatment.
Dr. Song has been certified as a clinical researcher by both the Harvard Global Clinical Scholars Research Training (GCSRT) program and the Mayo Clinic. As a clinician-scientist, Dr. Song is widely recognized for advancing clinician-led translational research in rare head and neck cancers.She also serves as a committee member of the CACA-Melanoma Committee and the Shanghai Anti-Cancer Association Melanoma Committee.
