PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: The frontoethmoidal region is a critical anatomical area intimately associated with the skull base and orbit. It serves as the drainage pathway for the frontal sinus and supraorbital cells. Pathologies affecting this region or the frontal sinuses can disrupt this drainage pathway, potentially leading to intracranial or intraorbital extensions. Such conditions present unique challenges due to the complex interplay of anatomy, pathology, surgical access, and risk of complications.
This panel of European experts will focus on the management of benign sinonasal masses affecting this intricate and challenging area. The discussion aims to provide insights into best practices and strategies for addressing the unique difficulties posed by pathologies in the frontoethmoidal region.
The discussion will cover a spectrum of pathologies, including mucoceles, fibroosseous lesions such as osteomas, fibrous dysplasia, ossifying fibromas, and inverted papillomas. Special emphasis will be placed on analyzing imaging, selecting appropriate treatment strategies, and determining optimal surgical approaches to reduce morbidity. The panel will also address strategies to avoid further development of inflammatory masses like mucoceles, which can obstruct sinonasal drainage pathways, potentially leading to complications such as intracranial infections. With their extensive experience, the European experts will share practical insights into managing these complex cases in their clinical practice.

Learning Objectives:

Differentiating Tumors Attendees will learn to recognize the differences among various benign sinonasal tumors at the frontoethmoidal region and identify the appropriate diagnostic steps for each.
Interpreting Imaging Participants will gain skills in interpreting diagnostic imaging to understand the specific characteristics of lesions and select the most suitable treatment strategies based on histopathology and patients’ specific anatomy.
Selecting Surgical Approaches Attendees will develop the ability to identify available surgical approaches and choose the most effective option, minimizing treatment-related morbidity while addressing the pathology effectively as well as avoiding complications.
