Eric E. Smouha, MD, FACS is a board-certified neurotologist who practices in New York City and Long Island. He is a Partner at ENT and Allergy, LLP, Clinical Professor of Otolaryngology at Mount Sinai, and Attending Physician at Northwell. He has a busy surgical practice, a large portion of which is the treatment of cholesteatoma. He has co-authored a textbook titled, Cholesteatoma (2011, New York, Thieme) and several peer-reviewed publications on cholesteatoma management and on the role of matrix metalloproteinases on cholesteatoma spread, He has led an instructional course (now panel presentation) titled Surgical Decision-Making in Cholesteatomaat the American Academy of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery for the last 20 years.
Dr Smouha practices all aspects of Neurotology including acoustic neuroma-skull base surgery, cochlear implant, and stapedectomy. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, and a member of the American Otological Society, the American Neurotological Society, and the Triological Society. He is a recipient of the Certificate of Honor of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. He is also a two-time recipient of the Teacher of the Year in the Mount Sinai residency program.
