Dr. Nilsen is a Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Her NCI-funded research focuses on identifying, treating, and developing interventions to manage symptoms (e.g., pain) and treatment-related effects (e.g., fibrosis, neck disability) in head and neck cancer survivors. She also serves as the Director of the UPMC Head and Neck Cancer Survivorship Clinic, a multidisciplinary clinical program that addresses the complex and multidimensional needs of head and neck cancer survivors. Her strong track record in research, interprofessional mentorship, and holistic, patient-centered care led to her appointment as co-leader of the Biobehavioral Cancer Control Program at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center.
