Catherine Muscato, B.Sc. is a medical student currently completing her master’s degree at the Free University of Brussels (ULB), Belgium. Alongside her academic training, she is actively involved in extracurricular research in the field of Otorhinolaryngology under the supervision of Professor Jérôme R. Lechien at the University of Mons.
Catherine developed a strong and lasting interest in surgery early in her clinical education, drawn by the technical precision, anatomical complexity, and immediate therapeutic impact of surgical interventions. Through her rotations in various surgical departments, she has cultivated a deep appreciation for the hands-on, problem-solving nature of the operating room, as well as the multidisciplinary collaboration that defines surgical care.
Her current research focuses on the diagnostic accuracy of patient-reported outcome measures and clinical assessment tools in laryngopharyngeal reflux disease, contributing to improved diagnostic frameworks and evidence-based management within ENT. This work has strengthened her skills in clinical reasoning, critical analysis of diagnostic tools, and collaborative research.
