Pooja A. Nawathe, MD, FAAP, FCCM, FSSH, CHSE-A, CHSOS-A is a Professor of Pediatrics, Cardiology, and Biomedical Sciences at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, and Health Sciences Clinical Professor at UCLA. She serves as the Medical Director of Simulation for the Department of Pediatrics and is the Associate Director of the Congenital Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at Cedars-Sinai.
Dr. Nawathe is a nationally and internationally recognized expert in simulation-based education and critical care. She holds advanced certification in healthcare simulation education and operations and has been instrumental in advancing simulation standards and accreditation through leadership roles in the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH), including her service as Chair-Elect of the SSH Certification Council. She also serves on the Executive Board of the International Network for Simulation-based Pediatric Innovation, Research, & Education (INSPIRE).
A passionate educator, Dr. Nawathe has mentored over 40 clinicians worldwide, led simulation-based initiatives for emerging special pathogen preparedness, and championed simulation to enhance emotional safety and team-based performance in pediatric critical care. Her leadership as President of the Southern California Chapter of the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) was nationally recognized with the 2025 Chapters Alliance Award.
Dr. Nawathe is widely published and an invited speaker at national and international conferences, including SCCM, SSH, and PediSTARS. She brings a unique perspective combining simulation, interprofessional education, research, wellness, and healthcare leadership.
