Kevin J. Contrera, MD, MPH is a head and neck oncologic and reconstructive surgeon at the University of Pittsburgh focusing on clinical trials. Through a better understanding of treatment response and biomarkers, he is working to personalize cancer care through neoadjuvant therapy and response adaption. His research has been supported by the National Institutes of Health and received over a dozen national awards, including from the American College of Surgeons, NRG Oncology, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, and the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. Dr. Contrera has held national leadership positions in the American Head and Neck Society, American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, and the American Medical Association. He received his medical degree and master's in public health from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and then completed his residency at Cleveland Clinic before pursuing fellowships in advanced head & neck surgical oncology and microvascular reconstructive surgery at MD Anderson Cancer Center.
