Richard K Gurgel MD MSCI is a Professor of Otolaryngology at the University of Utah. He completed his residency at the University of Iowa and fellowship in Neurotology - Skull Base Surgery at Stanford University. His research interests focus on the impact of hearing loss on cognition in older adults. He also has an interest in vestibular schwannoma outcomes, graduate medical education, and imaging in otolaryngology. He has authored over 125 peer-reviewed publications, 3 books (Imaging in Otolaryngology, Otologic Surgery 5th edition, Neurotology 3rd edition), and is an NIH-funded surgeon-scientist.
