Dr. Chang was born and raised in Topeka, KS. He received a BS from Yale University in New Haven, CT. He earned his medical degree at the University of Kansas in Kansas City, KS. He completed his residency in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN, with a subsequent fellowship in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Miami in Miami, FL.
Since then, Dr. Chang has built an academic career at the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO where he served as program director from 2009-2022. He is currently vice chair. His clinical interests include cosmetic nasal surgery, functional rhinoplasty, and rhinology.
Within the structure of local physician and hospital governance, Dr. Chang is a member of the finance committee and the surgical value analysis committee. Regionally, he is the past president of the Missouri Society of Otolaryngology. Nationally, has served the AAO-HNS as co-chair of the Patient Safety Quality Improvement Committee, associate editor for the Academy's journal Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, and the Nominating Committee. Internationally, he has participated in and led cleft lip/palate trips to Kijabe, Kenya.
