Dr. Jonathan R. Mark is a board-certified otolaryngologist specializing in head and neck surgical oncology and microvascular reconstruction. He earned his medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS), where he also completed his residency in Otolaryngology–Head & Neck Surgery. He pursued additional fellowship training in Head and Neck Oncology and Microvascular Reconstruction at the University of Cincinnati, gaining advanced expertise in the surgical treatment of complex tumors and functional reconstruction.
Currently, Dr. Mark serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology at Macon & Joan Brock Virginia Health Sceinces at Old Dominion University, where he is actively involved in resident education, clinical mentorship, and research. His clinical practice is based at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital and includes a focus on the management of head and neck cancers, thyroid and parathyroid diseases, and advanced reconstructive techniques using free tissue transfer. He is particularly interested in applying minimally invasive surgical methods, including transoral robotic surgery, to optimize oncologic outcomes and post-operative quality of life.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Mark is involved in developing a comprehensive head and neck cancer outcomes database to support quality improvement and translational research. He regularly contributes to academic publications and has presented at national meetings on topics such as mandible reconstruction, transoral surgical approaches, and survivorship in head and neck cancer.
Dr. Mark is a fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology–Head & Neck Surgery and a member of the American College of Surgeons. Through his academic and clinical efforts, he remains committed to advancing patient care, surgical education, and clinical research in head and neck oncology.
