Doron Sagiv, M.D., Neurotologist, Assistant Professor, University of California, Davis.
Dr. Sagiv completed his medical degree at Tel-Aviv University and was fortunate to train at Sheba Medical Center, the largest medical center in Israel (ranked in the top 10 best hospitals in the world by Newsweek for 2019-2022). In 2021, Dr. Sagiv completed two years of advanced training (fellowship) at the UC Davis Health Medical Center (Sacramento, CA) under the mentorship of Dr. Hilary Brodie and Rodney Diaz and joined the Faculty as an Assistant Professor.
During his entire career, Dr. Sagiv combined research with his role as a clinician and a surgeon. That unique combination allowed him to identify clinical needs during clinic visits and surgeries, and that led to numerous clinical trials and basic research projects that provided evidence-based answers to different clinical dilemmas. His studies were presented in the highest impact international meetings in the field of otolaryngology.
Dr. Sagiv's main research interest is the regeneration of the tympanic membrane. He conducts translational studies, from bench to bedside, in which he combines regenerative medicine methodologies with surgical needs with an ultimate goal to improve the healing rate of tympanic membrane perforation. Dr. Sagiv is currently collaborating with the skin stem cell lab of Dr. Isseroff (UC Davis) to develop a novel protocol that will enable the production of a neo-tympanic membrane to allow auto-transplantation.
Dr. Sagiv's research topics also include cochlear implantation, endoscopic ear surgeries, necrotizing otitis media, infectious diseases of the ear, anatomy, trauma, geriatric ontology, and head & neck oncology.
