Alena Pedroza, B.A., is a second year medical student at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine. She graduated from the University of Chicago with a bachelor's degree in the biological sciences and economics.Her previous research experiences explored the association of protein structure on cancer progression and methods for improving the accuracy of aging trajectories for older adults. Her current research is looking at the effects of nutritional support on surgical outcomes for head and neck cancer patients and the differences in interpretation of scientific literature between natural language processing models and different members of a medical team. She hopes to continue exploring head and neck cancer outcomes in the context of prehabilitation interventions. She is looking forward to further exploring the field of otolaryngology and oncology.
