Medical Student, 3rd year
University of Tennessee Health Science University, College of Medicine
Lexie is a 3rd year medical student at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, TN. Originally from Lexington, Virginia, Lexie stayed in her hometown to attend Washington and Lee University, where she majored in Economics with a pre-medical focus. Following graduation, she moved to Memphis to pursue a Master’s degree in Pharmacology and remained there for medical school. After spending more time in the hospital this year and learning about otolaryngology, Lexie has developed a strong interest in ENT, drawn to the field’s versatility and the opportunity for hands-on work within complex, fascinating anatomy.
Outside of academics, Lexie enjoys running, playing pickleball with friends, and spending time with her dog, Grizzly. She is excited to present a novel case report on extrinsic obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) that developed following total laryngectomy. Through this project, Lexie has gained valuable insight into the procedure itself and the nuanced, often overlooked postoperative complications that can arise.
