PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: This program will present minimally invasive approaches to the head and neck conditions. The main focus is robotic and endoscopic approaches to the salivary glands, lymph nodes, and thyroid gland. The session will provide practical insight into developing a surgical program, technical key points, the results, and the benefits of such procedures. The Head and Neck surgeon needs to be exposed to emerging approaches and understand the benefits and potential that they might have. It is an area of expiration and a field for research.
Robotic and endoscopic procedures are extensively used in Asian countries and are now becoming more popular in Western countries. The barriers to the widespread use of this technology are several, ranging from the lack of experienced proctors and lack of institutional incentives to limitations on the number of platforms available. All Theses barriers are slowly being overcome.

  1. Introduce robotic and endoscopic approaches to the central and lateral neck
  2. Discuss the benefits, the learning curve, and the risks of such procedures
  3. Promote a critical discussion with the audience about such procedures
