Clinical Applications of Ultrasound in Head and Neck Surgery

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Ultrasound (US) examination of the head and neck region should be an important tool in head and neck surgery. This will be an international seminar and instruction course initiated by Taiwan Society of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (TSOHNS) . Head and neck US has been used in Taiwan for 20 to 30 years. Our speakers have extensive experience in the field. In experienced hands, an otolaryngology-head and neck surgeon can perform a detailed examination and guide a treatment plan. The program will be an instruction course in head and neck US. It will include brief basic concepts, historical description, and applications in thyroid disease, swallowing, phonation, and US-guided minimally invasive surgery. In addition, the most novel artificial intelligence-assisted head and neck US will also be introduced.

1. Tzu-Yen Huang: From basic ultrasound examination to Voice-centered intraoperative neural monitoring in thyroid surgery
2. She Yun-Ying: Application of ultrasound in swallowing and phonation
3. Ping-Chia Cheng: Artificial intelligence-assisted head and neck ultrasound

OUTCOME OBJECTIVE 1:

Learning Objectives:

  1. Schedule a course on head and neck ultrasound with a brief introduction to basic concepts and a historical description.
  2. Introducing the application of head and neck ultrasound in neck lumps, thyroid disease, swallowing, phonation, and ultrasound-guided minimally invasive surgery
  3. Provide the audiences with the latest artificial intelligence-assisted head and neck ultrasound information
