Real-World Evidence Meets Innovation: Biologics in the CRSwNP Treatment Paradigm

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) significantly impacts patients’ quality of life and poses ongoing challenges for effective management. Biologics have emerged as a promising therapeutic option, offering targeted mechanisms of action tailored to underlying disease pathways. Agents like dupilumab, mepolizumab, and omalizumab have shown promising results in reducing polyp size, improving nasal airflow, and alleviating symptoms such as nasal congestion and anosmia. Biologics also has been shown to decrease the need for systemic corticosteroids and revision surgeries. This panel aims to synthesize updated real-world evidence on the efficacy and safety of various biologics available for CRSwNP, providing critical insights into their clinical utility and safety. Additionally, it examines the integration of biologics within the current CRSwNP treatment paradigm, highlighting their role alongside traditional medical and surgical approaches. Lastly, it explores the concepts of disease control and remission in the era of biologics, emphasizing the potential for these therapies to redefine treatment goals and improve long-term outcomes for patients with CRSwNP. By addressing these objectives, this review aims to inform clinicians and researchers about the evolving landscape of CRSwNP management in the biologics era.
