PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Lingual tonsil hypertrophy is a common contributor to obstructive sleep apnea. Expanding the scope of surgical treatment to address LTH can improve surgical outcomes. The goal of this session will focus on non-robotic methods of lingual tonsillectomy including diagnostic evaluation, surgical techniques, post operative care and complications. Diagnostic issues will include office exam, drug induced sleep endoscopy, and imaging studies. Adult, pediatric, and pediatric special needs (Down Syndrome) surgical techniques include methods to manage the supraglottis and avoiding major complications will be covered. Algorithms for post operative observation and pain control will be discussed.

Describe endoscopic methods for lingual tonsillectomy, including difficult airways of lingual tonsil exposure
Describe diagnostic methods and limitations
Understand risks and complications and multimodality pain management
