Dr. Alan Cheng is a surgeon-scientist in the in the department of otolaryngology-head and neck surgery at Stanford University. As a pediatric otolaryngologist, he cares for children at the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital. His research program has focused on defining the role of Wnt signaling in regulating hair cell progenitors in the developing and damaged inner ear using a combination of genetic, molecular biological, pharmacological, and optical techniques. His long-term goal is to ameliorate hearing loss and deafness via a cell-based regenerative approach.
