Vijay Ramakrishnan, MD, is a Professor at Indiana University School of Medicine Department of Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery. He completed a surgical residency in Otolaryngology at the University of Colorado. Afterwards, Dr. Ramakrishnan undertook further specialty training in Rhinology at the University of Pennsylvania, and re-joined the Department of Otolaryngology at the University of Colorado as faculty in 2010. There, he developed a busy clinical practice of Rhinology and Endoscopic Skull Base Surgery and served as Co-Director of the Skull Base Program with a joint appointment in the Department of Neurosurgery. In 2022, he moved to IU School of Medicine to pursue further innovation in clinical care and research in Rhinology. He received the IU Trustee Teaching award in 2025, and was named an IU Faculty Innovation Ambassador in 2025. He is currently funded by two NIH R01s to study the role of the sinus microbiome in chronic rhinosinusitis and AI-assisted modeling of ESS outcomes for CRS patients, which includes translational work with several colleagues across the United States.
