Nina W. Zhao, MD, MAEd is an Assistant Professor and Associate Residency Program Director in the Department of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center and Case Western Reserve University. As a laryngologist with expertise in medical education, Dr. Zhao’s work bridges clinical expertise and educational innovation.
Dr. Zhao earned her undergraduate degree from Washington University in St. Louis and her medical degree from the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. She completed her otolaryngology residency at the University of California, San Francisco, followed by a fellowship in Laryngology and Bronchoesophagology at UC Davis. She also holds a Master of Arts in Education from UC Berkeley, reflecting her deep commitment to advancing medical education.
Dr. Zhao’s research focuses on improving assessment and measurement design in both laryngology and medical education, aiming to make evaluation more meaningful, equitable, and useful for clinical and educational decision-making.
