Sarah Hughes, BA is a medical student at the University of Michigan with interests in surgical outcomes, hearing health, and communication in clinical settings. She is a research fellow in the NIH-funded Michigan Otolaryngology Research Education (MORE) program, where her work focuses on improving access and efficiency in hearing healthcare. Her research spans clinical outcomes and systems-based questions in otolaryngology, with projects addressing surgical communication, technology-based interventions, and disparities in care delivery. She earned her BA in biochemistry and English from Oberlin College. Her academic interests include inclusive healthcare design, hearing loss, surgical education, and improving communication in high-stakes clinical environments.
