John Germiller, MD, PhD is an attending surgeon and Director of Clinical Research in the Division of Otolaryngology at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and Professor of Clinical Otolaryngology at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Germiller received his MS and PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Michigan and his MD from University of Michigan School of Medicine. He completed his residency in 2003 at University of Michigan, then a Pediatric Otolaryngology fellowship at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in 2005, after which he joined the faculty.
Dr. Germiller’s practice focuses on cochlear implantation, pediatric ear disorders and general otolaryngology. His research interests include: hearing loss in children, disorders of inner ear and auditory nerve development, cochlear implantation, congenital abnormalities, and genetics of hearing disorders. He has published several chapters, papers and presented at numerous academic conferences, and directs several prospective research trials within the Division. He serves as an executive member of the CHOP Committee on Protection of Human Subjects (IRB).
