My passion for improving pediatric critical care medicine has focused my efforts on collaborative work, mostly through the Pediatric Acute Lung Injury and Sepsis Investigators (PALISI). Since completing my fellowship in 2015, I have served as the site Principal Investigator (PI) for numerous collaborative research initiatives, and I have continually been committed to advancing pediatric critical care through rigorous, high-quality research. Research is fundamental to moving the field of pediatric critical care forward, as it provides the data needed to make evidence-based advances in care quality and patient outcomes.
I have developed a proven track record of success in leading research efforts and producing impactful results. I have contributed to several key projects, such as investigating factors related to unplanned extubations and reintubations in critically ill children, studying ventilator liberation strategies, and exploring the prevalence of bacterial co-detection in children with bronchiolitis admitted to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). These projects have not only added valuable insights to the field but have also contributed to improving clinical practices within our ICU.
Additionally, I have co-authored multiple publications related to improving resuscitation readiness, further demonstrating my commitment to enhancing care quality. One of the unique advantages of working within the PALISI collaborative is the access to resources and expertise from a national network of researchers, which significantly elevates the quality and impact of our work. This collaborative environment has allowed us to undertake complex, large-scale projects that would be difficult to complete in isolation.
