Richa Saji Nathan, B.S. is a fourth-year medical student at Albany Medical College and a MD with Distinction in Research (MDDR) candidate in the Class of 2026. She discovered her passion for otolaryngology through a deep appreciation for communication and sensory connection, shaped by her background in music, patient advocacy, and health communication.
Richa has led and contributed to a broad range of research projects in rhinology, laryngology, otology, and facial plastics, with multiple national presentations and peer-reviewed publications. She currently serves as Chair of the Membership Committee for the National Otolaryngology Student Alliance (NOSA) and Research Chair of the Medical Student Surgical Consortium at AMC. She is also the founder of LumaStick, a hands-free oral exam illumination device designed to improve visibility and hygiene during head and neck exams.
Outside of medicine, Richa enjoys singing a cappella, playing tennis and violin, and mentoring students interested in surgical careers. She is especially drawn to projects that combine innovation with advocacy and looks forward to a career as an academic otolaryngologist committed to both compassionate care and creative problem-solving.
