Medical Student
Howard University College of Medicine
Elijah McMillan, PT, DPT is a fourth-year medical student at Howard University College of Medicine with a deep-rooted commitment to advancing health equity and improving patient outcomes through data-driven clinical research. He earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from New York University and worked in the acute care setting prior to beginning medical school, where he gained firsthand experience in interdisciplinary care and complex inpatient management.
Before pursuing his DPT, Elijah completed his undergraduate studies in Nutritional Science at Tuskegee University. His academic and professional journey has been shaped by a focus on underserved populations, early advocacy for vulnerable patients, and a strong foundation in evidence-based practice.
His current research, Epidemiological Trends in Rhinocerebral Mucormycosis Infection, explores shifting patterns in disease burden and comorbidity prevalence, particularly in high-risk groups. Elijah’s work reflects his passion for combining public health insight with clinical relevance to inform practice and policy.
At Howard, he serves as president of the Anesthesiology Interest Group and leads initiatives to connect students with mentorship and specialty-specific resources. His unique background as a clinician prior to medical school continues to influence his approach to teamwork, advocacy, and patient-centered care.
Elijah intends to pursue a career in anesthesiology, with long-term goals of improving perioperative outcomes and expanding access to surgical care in resource-limited communities.
