Daniel was born and raised in Colombia. He moved to the Florida during high school and attended a medical magnet program. He graduated from Florida State University Honors College with dual honors and a degree in Cell and Molecular Neuroscience. As an undergrad, he was selected as a finalist of the Rhodes scholarship and was selected as a Mayo Clinic Worrall Scholar. Daniel is a rising second year medical student at Weill Cornell Medicine in New York City.
