Zachary Elwell, MD, is a 3rd year resident in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery at the University of Arizona. He graduated summa cum laude from Barrett, The Honors College at Arizona State University with a BA in Biochemistry and Spanish Literature and Culture. He completed his MD at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson and graduated with distinction in global health and medical Spanish. He serves on the leadership team of the Global OHNS Initiative in multiple roles, including as a member of the Advisory Committee, supervising the Regional Representative Team, as a Regional Representative for the Americas, and as one of the co-leads of the OtoSurg Initiative. He serves on the national leadership team of the Global Surgery Student Alliance (GSSA) as one of the Vice Presidents of Residents and Trainees and as a founding member of the GSSA Equity Initiative. His research efforts focus on global otolaryngology, global surgical education, rhinology, facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, and pediatric otolaryngology. He lives in Tucson, AZ, where he enjoys hiking and trail running.
