Cristina Benites, is a 4th-year medical student at NSU's MD Program (Nova Southeastern University, Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Allopathic Medicine) and a former Head and Neck Surgery Research Fellow at the University of Florida, Gainesville. She has authored 6 peer-reviewed publications, contributed to over 20 national and international posters and presentations, and delivered 8 oral presentations at academic conferences in her time as a medical student. Her research includes Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, surgical outcomes, health disparities, artificial intelligence applications in medicine and medical education. Cristina is the recipient of numerous honors, including the Gold Humanism Honor Society, the MTOS Young Scholar Award and multiple grants totaling over $30,000. Her dedication to community service is exemplified by founding a local medical education outreach program within her school, and co-founding a mentorship initiative for underrepresented students in medicine in second chance programs. Cristina is also an active member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, American Society for Rhinology, and Association of Women Surgeons.
