Justina Varghese, BA, is a third year medical student at Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine and a current Research Fellow in the Department of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery at Houston Methodist. Her prior research focused on investigating surgical interventions and antibiotic management in pediatric orbital abscess patients. She coordinated a case series analysis proposing a modified Harris Criteria, currently under review with the Journal of Pediatrics. Her additional work includes co-authoring a case report with the Department of Ophthalmology at Hackensack Meridian on a patient with orbital infection found to have persistent superior ophthalmic vein dilation. She also created a database of approximately 3,000 pediatric patients with periorbital and orbital cellulitis to support future research initiatives.
