3rd year medical student
KCUCOM
Hi everyone! My name is Vasisht Karri (BA/MPH Candidate), and I am a third-year medical student at Kansas City University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Joplin, Missouri. As an aspiring physician with a robust background in research and public health, I have authored and co-authored multiple research projects spanning oncology, neurology, epidemiology, and environmental health, including presentations at national conferences such as the Ohio Osteopathic Symposium and KCU Research Symposium.
I completed my Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Business Administration from the University of Texas at Dallas and graduated Magna Cum Laude. Passionate about research, I explored areas such as molecular heterogeneity in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, adjuvant immunotherapy in MSI-H colon cancer, and epidemiological correlates of pediatric asthma to fulfill my goals in advancing medicine in our community. I have also received several academic and service scholarships, including the Sparks Foundation Scholarship and the Missouri AHEC Scholarship.
In addition to my academic achievements, I have valuable leadership and service positions such as President of the Student American Academy of Osteopathy (SAAO) – Joplin chapter, Peer Mentor for the PASS program, and founder of the Undeniable Needs Foundation. Through all of my medical and extracurricular activities, I aim to pursue my passion and interest in integrating scientific research with clinical practice to improve health equity and precision surgical outcomes.
