PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: The AAO-HNSF Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPG) are the most downloaded and cited evidence-based articles in our Journal. Yet, translation into practice is paramount to improving quality. Enter the digital age. While the evidence-to-practice time gap has somewhat improved in the past 20 years, a computable CPG can accelerate this trend by increasing adoption of guidelines by health care providers. In order to stay on the forefront, we embarked on a feasibility study with the CPG on Menieres. The goals of the feasibility study were to: apply a recently published integrated process currently for a computable CPG during the guideline update process; assess readiness utilizing the CPG-FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources) Knowledge Level Checklists; and perform a qualitative assessment of feasibility including opportunities and challenges through key stakeholder interviews.

The target audience includes otolaryngologist-head and neck surgeons who are interested in innovations in CPG development.

Learning Objectives:

Explore how the digital age challenges us to strategically reconsider the gap between evidence generation and its implementation in clinical practice.
Conduct a feasibility study and integrate a process for a computable CPG workflow using the current CPG on Menieres.
Present future opportunities to streamline processes utilizing AI to showcase development of a living guideline and decrease evidence-to-practice time gap.
