PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: This is the second part of the popular course Cancer Immunotherapy (previously named Immunotherapy for Cancer: What the Otolaryngologist needs to Know). Cancer immunotherapy has shown promise as a new therapeutic pathway for the treatment of various malignancies, including head and neck cancers. With the growing indications for immunotherapy and the potential for immunotherapy to have a big impact on a patient's treatment response and prognosis, patients and their families will be inquiring about these agents with greater frequency. Having a fundamental understanding of cancer immunotherapy, its current indications and future possibilities, can be useful for counseling patients. The second part of this course will focus on recent advances in the field of immunotherapy, including emerging biomarkers in oncology, ongoing clinical trials and exciting future directions for the treatment of our patients. Understanding the current advances and future directions of immunotherapy is valuable for counseling patients. This panel, geared toward general otolaryngologist, head and neck surgeons and trainees, will provide an in-depth review of biomarkers, ongoing clinical trials, and potential future agents. The panelist will provide the audience and participants with up-to-date and practicing enhancing data in a practical and interactive forum that will foster discussion and education, ultimately improving clinical outcomes for our patients.

OUTCOME OBJECTIVE 1: Upon completion of this activity, the participants should have an understanding of new and emerging biomarkers in head and neck oncology.

OUTCOME OBJECTIVE 2: Upon completion of this activity, the participants should have an understanding of ongoing clinical trials evaluating immunotherapies for treatment of head and neck cancer, including in the neoadjuvant setting.

OUTCOME OBJECTIVE 3: Upon completion of this activity, the participants should have an understanding of new and emerging immunotherapies for head and neck cancer and future directions.

BACKGROUND STATEMENT: This panel offers cutting edge updates on the rapidly evolving role of immunotherapy in the treatment of head and neck cancers.
