Oral Appliance Therapy Made Simple in Your Comprehensive Sleep Practice

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Otolaryngologists can provide comprehensive medical and surgical treatment for OSA. The benefits of oral appliances as non-CPAP therapies has become evident in recent years and such appliances may be used in lieu of surgery or to improve outcome after sleep surgery. This course will teach the indications and principles of application of oral appliances for OSA. Using didactic and hands-on instruction, this course will provide the practical basis required for beginning oral appliance therapy and will enhance knowledge of this modality. Assessment criteria and methods for patient selection, reimbursement and coding will be reviewed. Highly experienced course leaders will demonstrate thermoplastic appliance production and participants will fit appliances hands-on.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Identify the indications for thermoplastic oral appliance therapy
  2. Learn patient assessment, preparation and consent process for oral appliance therapy
  3. Learn to fit a thermoplastic appliance, and about titration and side effects
