PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Artificial intelligence (AI) and augmented reality (AR) are both revolutionizing healthcare, offering tools that enhance clinical decision-making, streamline workflows, and personalize care. This panel will explore cutting-edge applications of generative AI in otolaryngology specifically from the lens of medical education, from personalized educational content and procedural tutorials to research applications like automating literature reviews and draft/editorial assistance. The panel will also briefly discuss AI agents, their current limitations, and future potential to perform complicated interactive tasks. Experts will discuss the opportunities and challenges of implementing AI-driven solutions in clinical and educational settings. The session aims to provide practical insights for otolaryngologists to integrate AI/AR into practice while addressing ethical considerations and potential barriers.

OUTCOME OBJECTIVE 1: Define the roles of generative AI and augmented reality in enhancing otolaryngology education, with examples of their application in surgical training and clinical decision-making.

OUTCOME OBJECTIVE 2: Evaluate the role of AI-driven platforms in enhancing medical education and training for otolaryngologists and discuss current limitations and future potential of AI Agents.

OUTCOME OBJECTIVE 3: Discuss potential ethical and practical challenges, including data privacy, cost, and accessibility, in adopting these technologies.

BACKGROUND STATEMENT: As identified in the 2025 gap analysis, AI represents a critical area for improving efficiency, enhancing patient outcomes, and advancing medical education—topics vital to the evolving role of otolaryngologists.
