Get Home Sooner: Epic EHR Efficiency Tips for Otolaryngologists

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: With increasing documentation demands and decreasing reimbursements, we as physicians are trying to balance our computer screens and our patients. Many of the electronic health records (EHRs), and including Epic, have made great strides to both streamlining function and improving the ability to customize their standard foundational products. That being said, standard physician orientation is short and often in a large classroom format that too often fails to show physicians the innovative tools they can use to customize their own interactions with EPIC. Furthermore, otolaryngologists have a unique blend of procedural oriented clinics, inpatient admissions and surgical cases that each have a different interface within EPIC.

This Mini Expert Series is designed to get you home sooner, by demonstrating high yield tips for improved Epic efficiency. All recommendations and shortcuts will be specific to the Epic EHR and thus the program is designed for providers with Epic at their institution. The program will focus on data review, ordering efficiency and documentation. This year we will specifically review tips for incorporating ambient scribe and voice recognition software. Bring your laptop and remote connection, because after a short review of the top universal efficiency tips we will spend the remainder of the session working with the audience. We are planning a mini-seminar with limited attendance to allow for interactive discuss and answering questions. Following questions, general resources for further self-directed customization, learning and custom building, will be provided.
